If I were a Cubs fan I'd be thrilled. Barring any more issues with injuries, you can expect an immediate overall improvement in offense, especially over the God-awful Alex Gonzalez. Garciaparra/Sosa/A. Ramirez has the potential to provide the same one-two-three punch for the Cubs that Ortiz/M. Ramirez/Garciaparra did for the Sox last year. So yeah, I'm excited for Chicago, which has always been my NL team...

The Sox have always been my favourite team, however, and as a Sox fan this trade pisses me off. I just see this trade as another example of Boston's idiot sports writers driving an all-star calibre player out of town. Granted, I'd be more pissed off if Nomar weren't injured for 2/3 of the season so far, but at least if he's on our roster we have some leverage as far as determining whether or not we re-sign him or allow him to become a free agent after his contract expires. Obviously we don't have that leverage any more, so if the Cubs don't sign him at the end of the season, expect to see him playing 2B for the New Yawk Stankees next year.

see, i am a cubs fan and i'm still not exactly excited to have him. i mean, he's nomah...he belongs in boston. we didn't give up anything too wonderful to get him, but i have mixed emotions. i'm excited that he has the potential to add amazing things to this team, really, but it still feels a little wrong to me. plus, living in the northeast among boston fans and eventually becoming one myself has made this even harder. as a cumbs fan i have mixed emotions, and as a boston fan, i'm just upset. i guess my position is :-/ until we see what exactly he can do in chicago.

Agreed -- that's sort of how I'd feel if, say, Sammy Sosa came to the Sox. He's an awesome bat to have in your clubhouse, but he's Mr. Cubs.

Nomar was Mr. Red Sox. The franchise player for about eight years.

I don't know. I just think that I'm going to be following the Cubs more closely for the rest of the season, because I don't see the Sox doing much else this year, and I'm completely disallusioned with Red Sox management besides. I still love the Sox, but their management blows.

I just wish that I could get WGN here. Go Cubs.

- Will,
Waiting to see if Nomah switches his number back to '5' before buying his official Cubs jersey.
